The 2025 Mazda CX-5 comes with a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. There's also an available turbocharged four-cylinder engine that's good for 227 horsepower along with 310 pound-feet of torque. The standard engine can hit 60 mph in 7.9 seconds and the turbocharged version is slightly faster at 7.8 seconds. The new Mazda CX-5 has composed cornering and the electrically assisted steering system delivers a satisfying response.

Fuel economy

The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine in the new Mazda CX-5 gives you 24 mpg in urban areas and 30 mpg on the highway. The more powerful turbocharged engine is expected to give you 22 MPG on city streets and 27 MPG on the highway. The editors at Car and Driver tested the base engine and found that it delivered as much as 32 MPG on their test highway.

Interior highlights

The cabin in higher-level versions of the new Mazda CX-5 surrounds you with first-class materials and a very attractive layout. The steering wheel is well-crafted and the front seat armrests are positioned at the same height for maximum comfort. The storage bay benefits from a completely flat load floor to make storing things easier. The new Mazda CX-5 has 30.8 cubic feet of cargo space in back of the rear seats and 59.3 cubic feet when you fold those back seats down.

Exterior highlights

The new Mazda CX-5 for 2025 comes with standard LED headlights as well as automatic on and off headlights. The front of the new Mazda CX-5 comes at you with a unique black grille and a black signature wing. There's a dynamic roof-mounted "shark fin" antenna along with a body-colored rear roof spoiler and dual exhaust outlets with a bright finish. Higher trims come with rear privacy glass and an all-wheel drive badge.

Infotainment technology

The Mazda CX-5 for 2025 comes with a standard 10.2-inch touch screen, smartphone connectivity, a four-speaker stereo and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Other standard features include push-button start, remote start and remote keyless entry. You can upgrade to available satellite radio, a 10-speakers stereo, wireless device charging, dual-zone automatic climate control and a moonroof.

Safety technology

The latest version of the Mazda CX-5 comes with a standard rear view camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and adaptive cruise control. You can upgrade to available front and rear parking sensors and a surround view parking camera system.
