The new Mazda CX-60 is a new plug-in hybrid SUV that's soon to launch across Europe. Mazda is preparing to launch the CX-70 in the United States, but the manufacturer hasn't released detailed specs about this model. However, there is speculation that Mazda will offer a plug-in hybrid version of the CX-70.
Performance
The new CX-60 is equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that includes an electric motor and 2.5L engine. This powertrain configuration produces up to 369 horsepower and 323 pound-feet of torque. The CX-60 includes a 17.8-kwh battery that gets an impressive electric driving range. The engine works with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the CX-60 comes standard with iActive AWD. The CX-60 has a maximum towing capacity of more than 5,500 pounds.
This SUV is expected to get additional powertrain options for future models. The 3.0L e-Skyactiv-X I-6 engine and 3.3L Skyactiv-D diesel engine will be offered with future CX-60 models. These engines come mated to 48V mild-hybrid systems that make up Mazda's M Hybrid Boost System.
Design
The interior of the CX-60 has available features that optimize luxury. Nappa leather seating and genuine wood trim are available with this SUV, and the cabin offers plenty of interior passenger and cargo volume. The exterior of the CX-60 has a sleek look with an elongated hood design and premium grille. The back of this SUV has bright chrome fender accents and quad rhomboid exhausts.
What to Look Forward to
The United States is expected to get the CX-70, which has the same two-row seating configuration as the CX-60. Additionally, the CX-80 is a larger SUV with three rows of seats anticipated for release in the United States. The new CX-60, CX-70, and CX-80 will join the CX-9 to make up Mazda's Large Product Group.
